Things I Learned in First Grade
Well, its Tuesday again, which means I should blog....I promise one of these days you'll get more than Tuesday 10 posts around here.....
Today's 10 is brought to you by my time spent in a first grade classroom this month:
1. "Alien's rock". Didn't you know?
2. Be careful. If you fall down on the playground or in P.E. and you get a teeny tiny little scratch on your knee, it might just cause you to limp for the rest of the day.
3. Be sure to finish your morning work and math worksheet, so you can spend your snack time discussing the important things in life, like who's seen what movie and why it scared you when you were a little kid (like 5 years old) but now that you are older you think its "so funny."
4. If you are wearing a watch or a bracelet or a necklace, you have got yourself a built in plaything, guaranteed to keep you occupied (and off task) for the rest of the day.
5. "Raise your hand if ______" is a really fun game that you must play at least three times a day.
6. You might want to wear a helmet, knee pads, goggles and other such gear, as injuries occur all day long. You just never know what might jump out at you and cause you to run to the teacher for some attention.
7. Please be sure to ask everyone if they "notice anything different about you" so that you can point out your new haircut, shoes, watch, sticker, etc. as much as possible.
8. Math songs and looking for ladybugs are fun.
9. While walking in line, be sure to stop and dilly dally as much as possible, this means you get to run to keep up.
10. Be sure to ask "if you can use markers" any chance you get, you just never know when the teacher might say yes.
Happy Tuesday.

"Raise your hand if you think this post is completely rad." (Now picture me straining to raise my hand as high as possible, and squirming around from the sheer agony of waiting to be called upon).
Also, I'd like to submit #11: If you get a GOOD scratch-n-sniff sticker (like orange, but definitely NOT the pickle) you should save it for recess and casually give it to the boy you like. Then act like you don't care and run away.
The "raise your hand if..." game made me crazy last year. My kids had a mean teacher who told them they could only play it 3 times at lunch, because she didn't want to hear it anymore... :)
#12. If you are looking to get out of any work assignment that has been given, make sure you use the bathroom as many times as possible in the 20 minutes that you are given to complete the task.
Cute list! Ahhh, memories... :)
This makes me want to have a classroom again! {almost} =)
Oh yes, this sounds just about right! See you at lunch today!
