The Kit Obsession

Ok, I'll admit it...I'm obsessed, really obsessed with scrap kits! I subscribe to 3, buy a 4th every now and than, covet several, and just got an email today from one I put my name on the waitlist for......just when I was actually thinking I need to back off the kits and maybe even cancel one...now I want this new one....

What's a crazy paper obsessed girl to do? I need some feedback. The true problem is that I am getting too much stuff each month. I know, this doesn't really sound like a problem to all you scrappers, but my kits are piling up on my desk and making it a bit too chaotic in my scrap room. I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with fun stuff...where to start, which one to play with, what to do with the others in the meantime. I don't like to separate my kit materials until I've at least made a couple pages or mini albums with them. Thus, these little bags of stuff pile up and pile up. I did recently purchase a desk organizer that has the perfect slot for kits, but it only holds 3 and that's pushing it. I'm really thinking I should cancel one membership and only buy an extra when I HAVE to have it...which really is quite often. The real question is which to cancel. I have subscriptions/memberships with Studio Calico, Cocoa Daisy and Jenni Bowlin. I sometimes buy the SIS collections.

I adore Studio Calico, so this one's staying. It's the one I play with most quickly and think matches my style the best. Before Studio Calico arrived on the scene, I was favoring Cocoa Daisy and am dying to play with my new August kit. Plus, I'll be Guest Daisy Diva in November and am thrilled I was offered this. This leaves Jenni Bowlin as the one to discontinue. Truthfully, I've not been thrilled with the papers or color schemes lately, but LOVE her little box of goodies and journaling cards that come each month. This is the kit that sits the longest untouched though. Should I cancel?

Furthermore, should I reply to the Cupcake Scrapshop email and say add me? They just picked an amazing design team....the kits are definitely my style.....doesn't make much since to drop one and add another though does it? Really, I could spend less money on the kit thing too...have not been going to local stores because my budget and my space is full on kits....

Help me....what to do? Ideas anyone?

I think you should drop Jenni for awhile (that sounds awfully mean spirited doesn't it?!? SO not intended *that* way) ... buy her doo-dad's from her store. Then stick with two for a few months and maybe when one subscription is filled hop over to another one.

In the mean time, can I take the cupcake slot off your hands? ;).

Good luck deciding!!

I agree with Andrea. Jenni has to go. :) I say if you decide in a month or two that you want another kit...subscribe to the cupcake one. Or you could always buy it one at a time, right? Decisions, decisions...

:) Let us know what you decide!!

I feel you on this being a little kit obsessed myslef. Tried most but am a true fan of the Calico, Label Tulip, & Red Velvet. 3 is good. These are the 3 the suit me the best and have never dissapointed whether it be product or shipping time. I agree with dropping Jenni Bowlin even though she is quite awesome....her kits don't wow me. So there's my 2 cents!

I like to keep my kits together tool. I have yet to find a nifty trick to keep them organized though. RVA sends their kits in a pizza box like package so I keep them in there and label the outside "July", "August", etc.

Being and x-scrapbook store owner I know your obsession. I had to have all the new stuff every time the UPS guy dropped the box off. I am not used to purchasing kits because off that, but it is the same addiction. Getting it delivered into your hot little hands. I found now that my store has been sold, I can concentrate on what supplies I have for now.

Maybe you should do the same. Don't tell yourself that you have to give it up... just put it on hold until your piles are weeded down a little. Then reward yourself with that special kit you have your eye on.

Boy, I sound like a Dr. Phil show. Hope you figure it out for yourself. I always like to tell myself that it is an addiction that doesn't have me in a bar... I don't smoke... or abusing other things. I am just purchasing stuff to save my families memories. How bad can my addiction be?

I totally feel this same way! The only way I've found to curb myself is to not subscribe and just pick up kits here and there (that is until i found SC - they're my only subscription!)
I agree with the other posters, take a break from Jenni and maybe hold off on Cupcake (even though both have such awesome goodies) until you can whittle down the piles.... (that said from the woman who just bought a Label Tulip kit last night!) :P Good luck!
