Sunday Happenings

Today I:

  • slept in, well if you count 8:30 sleeping in
  • made whole wheat buttermilk pancakes with apples and maple syrup for breakfast
  • did about 8 loads of laundry
  • cleaned the bathroom
  • mopped the floors
  • vacuumed
  • worked on a layout, but didn't finish it
  • studied for an exam (in between bouts of cleaning)I'm taking later this week. I am hoping to test out of a class. Wish me luck.
  • transferred music files from old ipod to computer to new ipod (hand me down i pod touch from Shawn). Such a tedious project. I spent way too much time on this today.
  • coveted rainboots at target.com. I want them for pictures at the tulips in April. Not sure if I should spend the money though.
  • made spinach and black bean enchiladas for dinner. Yum!
Tonight I will:
  • continue to study
  • roll more yarn balls
  • put clean sheets on the bed
  • mindlessly surf the web while watching tv
  • create my to do list for the week
The washer is beeping...time for one final load of laundry...

Happy Sunday!

Thursday Thankfuls

Today I am thankful for:

  • getting lots of school work done yesterday. Not too thankful for the stomach bug that kept me home, but I managed to make good use of the extra down time.
  • a non yucky tummy. yesterday was not fun.
  • a late start today, allowing me to get a few more things done.
  • teaching myself how to crochet...ok so I can only chain right now, but I'll teach my self single crochet soon. Granny squares and flowers here I come!
  • a good start to spring (minus the sickies)
  • photo collages. I'm hosting this week's Monday challenge at Scrap for a Cure. The challenge is to use a photo collage on your page. Here's mine:

It's Tuesday Again

Today's Tuesday 10 comes from my tumblr account, eye candy.

1. I need an instax camera (and a 7 Gypsies photo carousel thingy ) so I can make one of these cute things like Elizabeth Kartchner.

2. I've been thinking I need a spring wreath. How lovely is this flower wonder from The Girls Paperie.

3. Or this butterfly lovely (who's source I can't find)

4. Not usually a fan of white walls, but lately I've been thinking a white room with tons of color accents would be so fun. This mantle from Freckled Nest is perfect.

5. Been looking at a lot of quilt stuff lately. Not sure if I'm crazy enough to attempt one (I need another hobby and project like a hole in the head). This one from here is adorable.

6. I think I need to paint a wall this color. Love the dark wall, pops of white and light wood mix too. Image from The Beautiful Soup.

7. This beautiful box from oh, hello friend. So wishing I'd made it to her swap before it filled up.

8. Alice goodies from laboomeria.

9. This most fabulous corner belonging to my new friend Debee (whom I finally met last weekend). I need this chair.

10. This cute craft room from here

Today's 10

1. I had a rather restless night last night due to tummy issues. Good thing I have a light work day today and am only seeing 3 kiddos this afternoon. I need a restful morning to recoup.

2. Working on invites for Miss Nicole's bridal shower this week. I have an invite dilemma, if you received and invite that said "put on your party dress and fancy shoes" would you understand that you are to dress nice or do I need to spell out "dressy attire"? I am loving her color combo of red and brown. Using this yummy Pink Paislee paper for her invites.

3. Tonight's dinner is cooked and waiting in the fridge since I made a huge blunder with a recipe last night (neglecting to read the part where it needed to simmer for 1 1/2 hours). I had to scramble with a new plan and ended up making 3 dinners last night...dinner for tonight, and 2 versions (meat and veggie) of another recipe for dinner last night.

4. Ended up doing some impromptu craft room cleaning yesterday. Still have a couple piles to address, but it feels so good to be able to see my craft table today.

5. Posted a tutorial for this easy peasy baby gift on Scrap for a Cure today:

6. More reading about classroom management on the agenda today.

7. Been posting a lot of goodness to my tumblr. You may see a tumblr favorites Tuesday 10 post in future weeks.

8. Loving having my windows open. Spring in AZ is the best!

9. Looking for a yummy cupcake recipe to make for crafting this Friday. Contemplating this frosting recipe PW posted today on Tasty Kitchen.

10. Working on this goodness, coming soon to an etsy near you:

Happy Tuesday!

When It Rains

So far I am not a fan of 2010. A lot of bad stuff has happened to me and to people I love this year. It's definitely been one of those "when it rains, it pours" sort of situations. Just one thing after another. I won't run down the laundry list of negatives. I don't want to be a whiner and am trying hard to not be Ms. negative. I need to keep looking for the positives. I keep telling myself things will be better next week. Let's hope things really do start looking up soon.

In the mean time, here's a list of positives to keep my moving forward:

1. I'm actually happy to be back in school, even though it adds some extra stress to my life.
2. Dinner last night at this new restaurant was delicious.
3. I've already checked a few things of my to do list this morning.
4. The weather is gorgeous. I love spring time in Phoenix.
5. I get to see some of my crafty friends this week.
6. I love that I'm still in my pj's.
7. I love lists. Lists make me happy. If you read my blog, you might be sick of my lists, but I love them.
8. I have a nice stack of felt, a new scrappy kit, some new fabrics and lots of yarn to keep me happy.
9. Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies just might be on my to do list today.
10. St. Patty's day is just a few days away. Even if I won't do much to celebrate, this Irish girl loves to wear green.
11. Some recent scraps with Lily Bee goodness:

Here's to a better week next week.

Happy Sunday!

The 10

A few things from today:

1. Checking things off my list. Feels so good.
2. Spring break for some kiddos this week and some next week means different work schedule for me. Some kids on vacation, some with earlier times, some make ups.
3. Posted this card today in the SFAC March gallery:

4. Feeling good about getting a lot of my tax stuff done. Hoping to finish the rest soon.
5. Taking a test this afternoon. As long as I pass, I am officially done with one class.
6. Enjoying this bread I made during my rainy Sunday. Fitting with her blog post don't ya think?
7. Looking forward to Vietnamese food with a friend this evening.
8. Hoping to play with this tonight after I get home from dinner:

9. It's another gray day today. Hoping I can at least get another one of these out of the gloom (photo taken sunday):

10. Thinking of making "off with your head" a new part of my usual dialogue thanks to Alice. Think it applies to lots of things, like politicians and bad drivers and snide remarks....

Happy Tuesday!

Friday Facts

Random facts about today.

  • I am currently wearing a shirt I knit for myself.
  • I should photo myself in said shirt so I can post.
  • It took my 20 minutes to blow my hair dry. I lose so much hair each day, its a wonder how I still have a ton on my head.
  • After eating my blueberries this morning I have no fruit to take in my lunch, other than a sad bruised apple. How'd that happen?
  • I must get to the grocery store.
  • I will see 4 kiddos today.
  • I will return a pattern to Joann's today, as I found it much cheaper elsewhere.
  • I will try to read several chapters today.
  • My skin is super dry, despite the gallons of water I drink each day.
  • My toes are naked. Sad.
  • I wish I could go see Alice today.
  • I need to exchange one of our new smoke detectors for a smoke/carbon monoxide detector per Shawn's request.
  • It will be in the low 70's today. Perfect spring weather. Which brings me to this page I finished yesterday before work. Made with the fab March Scrap for a Cure kit.

Happy Friday!

Busy Busy

Another busy week, another busy month begins today. March is shaping up to be quite the busy month. Today is no exception. After this post I must get moving. I have a meeting to attend, groceries to purchase, school to work on, a house to clean, a session to run, phone calls to make....oh how I miss my lazy Sunday already.

Somewhere amongst all those to do's I also hope to play a little bit with Strawberry Fields, the March Scrap for a Cure kit. I did manage to get a couple pages done yesterday. Loving the color palette in this kit and all the spring goodness. Here's my first page. I've been saving these photos (not the greatest photos in the world, but a memorable event) for just the right papers. This kit was perfect for documenting a celebration. The pink cardstock is from my stash.

The second page I made yesterday just kind of happened. I had a different design in mind completely for this photo, but this page just evolved. Loving the JBS banner stickers.

Today is also my dear friend Nicole's birthday. Happy Birthday to you my friend! May this year bring you lots of wonder and joy. Here's a picture of the birthday girl with her favorite pink leopard.

Happy March!
