Earth Day

Today is Earth Day. Unfortuntately, because is an average middle of the week workday for me, I won't be doing anything special to mark the occasion. I was considering an after work trip to the Downtown Phoenix Farmer's Market, but since it's supposed to be 100 degrees today, I'm not so sure I'm ready for an outing in the heat. I would love to see the Earth movie to, but that will have to wait till the weekend I think.

If you know me, you know I'm somewhat of a granola-y, tree hugger. I'm pretty "green" on a daily basis, with the exception of my constant driving, which is part of my job. Here are some of the "green" things I already do:

obsessive recycling (including a recycle basket in my scrap room and a bag in my car)
natural cleaning products
natural, paraben and other chemical free, usually organic bath and beauty products
organic produce
no plastic bags...I carry bags everywhere
herb garden

Things I would like to be better at:
limiting plastics---slowly removing and replacing most of my kitchen plastics
buying local
start a vegetable garden
lower water and energy use

What do you do that's "green"? How will you mark Earth day?

I love carrying my own bags and my own water bottle. With the amount I drink, I figure I'm saving the planet enough for three people! LOL. :)

Thanks for sharing your Earth Day contributions! :)

Now that the snow is gone, we try to bike most places in town for errands, etc, instead of driving.
I also carry my own bags (& reuse the few plastic ones I have for garbage.)
I've started buying green cleaners, as I've run out of my old ones.
And I recycle. Like you, I have different containers in my scrap room for recycling.

I'm doing a lot of similar things to you. I just started a veggie patch in my garden and am excited to start growing.
